I feel very fortunate to have found Becky, both as a friend and a mentor.
I was reaching out for someone to assist me with a warmblood gelding that I had raised. He was 2, large, and totally in my space. Although I have had horses most of my life, this gelding was different. He was not mean, just had his own agenda, and due to his size, he knew he could do most anything he wanted. Thank goodness he has a kind soul!
Becky came out and worked with this colt, and at the same time, worked with me to help keep me safe. He quickly learned that he is not to invade my space. She accomplished this in a quiet, gentle manner.
I have a total of 9 horses, and now Becky is helping me with all of them. From trailering issues, teaching new babies how to lead and behave, to improving my riding skills, Becky has been there to not only keep me safe, but to keep the horses safe and happy.
Over the last 20+ years, I’ve raised and shown horses, mostly Arabians. I’ve gathered lots of training methods over the years. Some of the methods that I always thought were tried & true, turned out to not be best for the horse. A simple example would be using a butt rope to teach a foal to lead. Becky’s methods work much better, without stressing the foals. They wind up following me, because they want to, not because they have to.
