In May, 2008, I was selected as a trainer to take in 2 unhandled Mustang yearlings off the Nevada rangelands to participate in the Extreme Mustang Makeover Yearling Edition (www.extrememustangmakeover.com).

It was an unforgettable experience. After 100 days of training, I showed and adopted out both yearlings at the national event held at the Will Rogers Memorial Stadium in Ft. Worth on Sept. 17-20, 2008.
The Extreme Mustang Makeover is produced by the Mustang Heritage Foundation and BLM for the purpose of promoting the adoption of Mustang horses.

One of my yearlings made the top 10 in the finals in the obstacle course on the first day of the show out of approximately 50 yearlings in my division. We were awarded 3rd place in our finals performance the following night, earning a $750 check, enough to pay all horse feed bills and travel expenses. This was a great opportunity and I met some wonderful, caring horse people in the process. I encourage other trainers to join in the experience of showing and adopting out these incredibly versatile and smart Mustang yearlings or older horses for upcoming Extreme Mustang Makeovers.
